Jiran ("we", "our", or "the app") is a hyper-local, invite-only neighborhood platform built to connect residents within the same building, compound, and city. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how it is protected.
Information We Collect
We collect only the information necessary to provide the Jiran service:
How We Use Your Information
Your data is used exclusively to power Jiran features:
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose outside of the Jiran service.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for commercial purposes. Data is shared only in these limited cases:
All third-party providers are bound by data processing agreements and handle data solely on our behalf.
Invite-Only Access
Jiran is accessible only through a verified invite code linked to a specific building. This means your data is only ever visible to verified residents of your own building or compound — never to the general public.
Data Security
We use Supabase as our backend infrastructure, which provides row-level security, encrypted connections (TLS/SSL), and access controls. Your data is stored on secure servers and is not accessible without authentication.
Data Retention
Your data is retained as long as your account is active. If you request deletion of your account, all personal data associated with your profile will be removed within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
Your Rights
Children's Privacy
Jiran is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will notify residents through the app. Continued use of Jiran after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
